Black Box is sticking around, they're just relocating to share the same office space as EA Canada.
At least, that's what I got out of this article:

Black Box getting hacked is a bit of a shock. Their franchises seemed profitable. Crazy.

Factor 5 and Free Radical aren't going under because of any sort of videogame industry recession. This industry has done extremely well despite the current economic condition. These companies went under because in the past 2+ years they had invested all of their resources into a single exclusive title which both ended up being 2 of the biggest steaming piles to be released.
Seriously, Haze & Lair were 2 of the most over hyped pieces of crap to be released in a long long time.

Factor 5 worked miracles with the N64 and GameCube; hopefully Nintendo picks up their staff and we finally get some great looking Wii games.
Anything they would be able to do would fall under an average looking next-gen game, so who really cares if they can work miracles?

The first Factor 5 game I remember playing was one of their N64 Star Wars games. It was kind of lousy then and they've only gone downhill. Developer Darwinism is at work here.
With all the crap being pumped out for the Wii, Nintendo can fill several deserts with unsold product.
