Paul Newman and Clint Eastwood would both think that's dumb.
If I could've chose to have two other Dads, in addition to the one I have now, I would have picked Paul Newman and Clint Eastwood without hesitation. I would have settled for them as my uncles even, but ideally would have been father.
Paul Newman and Clint Eastwood would both think that's dumb.

Everything was forced and really took you out of the movie.
I can't believe no one mentions this in the press, but I guess it's a complete Eastwood suck-off fest.
The acting by the principle actors other than Clint are near movie-breaking.

I dunno, while I knew that the acting was rather bad, I think I was able to accept it as people speaking english as a second language trying to show emotion, so it wasn't really out of character.
But yeah, it was pretty bad at times.
Racists.

It's not all forced as it is in Gran Torino.
And aside from the emotional scene that were laughable, the dialogue in normal scene was pretty bad. I think Clint is getting a bit too old and isn't getting the right emotion out of his non-professional actors. It seemed like he was settling for the performances he got out of the principles.
He can still be great, he's just gotta lean away from using non-pro's. Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, and Flags were all great acting wise, and Letters from Iwo Jima had the Japanese speak their own language, and I'm ignorant, so it seemed fine to me.
The kid's acting in the scene where he's pounding on the basement screen and yelling at Clint to let him out was hilariously bad.
Yeah, that was the highlight.
I also cringed at the banter of between Clint and the girl on the car ride home after he saved her from the black dudes
The gangster talk was also very bad. I don't know how many times he said "can't I just come and see my little cousin." And the reasoning for doing what they did come back for tao, trying to drag him away, etc seemed stretched at best. That's a small complaint, but it's something I noticed when I was watching it.
Honestly though, despite all the hate I'm spewing, it's a pretty good movie. It just doesn't deserve the Clint's a genius praise it's getting. He may be a genius, but not for this movie.
