Gin. Tastes like a Christmas tree.
My family puts out a big hors devours spread on Christmas eve. I decided my part of it this year is going to be pear gorgonzola pizza and some sort of Christmas cocktail. I really could use cocktail recommendations. Maybe something with cinnamon schnapps in it? I'm going to do drink testing tonight. My mom always makes a kickass fondue, and usually some meatballs and stuff. I mostly fill up on cookies though
I love Christmas food. Lets hear about your plans. Then help me with my Christmas cocktail.
Gin. Tastes like a Christmas tree.
I like the suggestion, but I don't think I can get away with serving my mom straight gin on Christmas eve.
I've recommended this one before (TNL Pub 07?), but the Washington Apple is pocket aces at ANY Christmas party.
2oz Crown Royal
1oz Sour Apple Pucker
2-4oz (depending on your taste) 100% Cranberry Juice (NOT cranberry cocktail)
Granny Smith Apple (the green ones) (OPTIONAL)
1. Pour ingredients over ice in a cocktail shaker.
2. Shake vigorously
3. Pour into martini glass
4. Garnish w/slice of apple on the glass
Tastes exactly like a granny smith apple. If you add the apple garnish, it's a red and green drink.
These things have owned every holiday party I've ever served them.
4. Garnish w/

That sounds awesome
How sweet is that drink? If it's almost like candy I don't think my parents will like it.

You'd think it'd be like candy, but it's not. It tastes exactly like biting into a green apple; not too sweet, refreshing, and lots of flavor. It won't be mistaken for a Jolly Rancher (the candy or the drink).
Very popular with young and old, varsity drinkers and the JV team.
Vid if this helps (she only goes w/1oz cran which is how I mix them but it's really to your/your group's taste)

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
The ultimate Christmas food is Smithfield Country Ham.
A varient on the classic southern country salt cured ham that can legally only be made in Smithfield, Virginia. State law says it must be made from pigs from Smithfield.
If you get it unprepared it requires over a day of soaking in water in order ot loosen up the excess salt and grime and shit built up on the outside. But holy god damn is it delicious. The salt can dehydrate you quickly, but it also makes it just... so incredibly addicting. I could literally sit in front of one of these things and carve at it for an hour.
Smithfield ham is the favorite part of Christmas, we start one Christmas morning every year. And it's just... *sigh*
It's so good.
Aw, that sucks.
We are having pastitso, feta, Greek salad, and some kind of eggplant dish. A kick ass $8 red wine we found a few weeks ago for the main course and a barleywine with dessert.
