Yuengling is something I used to get requests for down here. I know it's not available in Texas, but what am I missing? Hobgoblin is my go to favorite beer. It's not... really special. I just think it's really solid. My bar in VA had it on tap, it was great.
There is nothing special about Yuengling.

Yuengling isn't worth seeking out, but it's a solid choice if you're in territories where it's common and cheap. In the part of PA I grew up in it's pretty much the standard - bartenders sometimes act like it's odd if you ask for it by name, if anyone asks for lager they generally expect Yuengling. When I'm in town, for $2 a pop (or free when I have bartender friends working) it works just fine.

+1. It's priced like Bud Light but it tastes pretty good. When you're in the market for a cheap case of beer, or want something to go with some pizza after a day at work, Yuengling works well.
I agree completely. Yuengling is a decent beer, the Light version not as much, but it's tastey and goes well with whatever late night food you decide to order. I'll take it over most other "draft" beers any night cuz it pours pretty good and is generally "top shelf" in terms of what these places don't have in bottles. Fuck the haters, there are many better beers, but there are many MANY worse ones.
