Thread: Circuit City Goes Under

  1. Good, one less Verizon place we need to fight with.

It was funny, this christmas I helped 2 people buy TVs. Both were cheaper at Circuit City, Both were bought at Best Buy after price matching, because we all knew this was happening.

And yes, its all Karma over nearly torpedoing DVD with that Divx crap.

The sales wont be that great, maybe until the near end, when everything has been picked over.

Anyone with a house should check them out before closing, you will be able to get slatwall and really sturdy shelving for dirt cheap, and that stuff is perfect for a garage or basement...

  2. I talked to my buddy who worked at Circuit City Corporate in Richmond for about a year, and he said the sales will only be 10% to 20% at first, but will get really cranked up in a couple of weeks.

after no one bought the retail chain its now going on liquidation.

    Shopping time?
I went to some stores that were closing and the sales they had were crap. I wouldnt be surprised if the remaining closing stores also have crap sales.

And that's after everything gets marked up to MSRP first. There will be no deals. That's how these things work. Too many people buy all the good stuff as soon as the liquidation sign goes up, even though the prices could be beat on Amazon.

  5. I've only ever been to circuit city once. I wasn't really impressed with the place, though I did find Hulk Ultimate Destruction there for 8 bucks, so it kind of evened out
"I don't like fellas that kill me. Not in general."

  6. I bought alot of stuff from them. Their open box buys were always cheaper than the BB ones (frm where I lived). I mean I bought a 24 in. Sony Wega TV from them back in 1999 for 400 bucks and it was selling for 700. The only problem with it was the right speaker casing had a scratch on it. Then I bought an open box 36 in. Sony Trinitron for my mom and the reason it was returned was it didn't fit their entertainment center.

    I'll miss CC.

  7. I just bought a TV at Best Buy, should've tried to find one on sale at Circuit City

  8. Ya know as I read this a I close my eyes and picture my fiance talking "shop" with her girlfriends. Lighten up, ladies.

  9. The local news channel said that gift cards would still be valid, but that they would only be worth 50% of their actual value. I will find out shortly if this is true or not.
