Except, of course it can, has, and man-made species are well documented. Domestic sheep, for example, are not even able to reproduce well with the Mouflons from which they were initially bred. They're a distinct species created solely by humans. Speciation is not a mystery to scientists.

    Oh absolutely.

I was just simplifying it for anyone who hasn't followed it for the last year or so, and might be fooled by the Creationist cries from the hills of, "oppression, oppression!"

They are responsible for many, many underhanded things, the least of which is the ability to pass off fiction as fact to those who express a desire to believe them, but aren't inclined to fact check them (i.e. Religious people). Really the problem the whole time has been that their venom makes sense if you are religiously inclined, so it becomes easier and easier to push yourself on a certain type of belief system.

A lot of people coming in on the argument going on between the two sides are not even against ID being taught in a classroom, and hell I'm not either. You want to teach ID, Christianity, Judaism, all this shit in Public Schools? Go for it. Call it Theology 101 and make it a requirement to at least have a basic understanding of the views behind them all. As long as you never try to sell me religion as a science again, I'm happy, and you're happy.

  3. FYI ... I'm a creationist, but I don't give a shit. You can believe whatever floats your fucking boat. The main thing I like is that the Supreme Court has the final say in all things law. So, Jindel can run, but as soon as he passes a law about Intelligent Design the SC will be down that laws fucking throat.

Oh and I know what Frog and all the atheists will say ... and honestly since my attitude change I really don't give a flying fuck what you can say back. It won't change how I fucking feel get over it.

Now back to Barry O and his shitty policy making.

Well the law has already passed man, and as far as I know about the issue, it's up to the states to decide on how they structure their own public education system.

I don't really think this will become a federal issue anytime soon, at least not until other religions tack on fake science to their belief system in the hope of getting someone to take them seriously.

I agree though. Move on to more Barry talk.

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

"I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum." Holder said at a news conference on the arrest of more than 700 people in a drug enforcement crackdown on Mexican drug cartels operating in the U.S.

Mexican government officials have complained that the availability of sophisticated guns from the United States have emboldened drug traffickers to fight over access routes into the U.S.

A State Department travel warning issued Feb. 20, 2009, reflected government concerns about the violence.

"Some recent Mexican army and police confrontations with drug cartels have resembled small-unit combat, with cartels employing automatic weapons and grenades," the warning said. "Large firefights have taken place in many towns and cities across Mexico, but most recently in northern Mexico, including Tijuana, Chihuahua City and Ciudad Juarez."

At the news conference today, Holder described his discussions with his Mexican counterpart about the recent spike in violence.

"I met yesterday with Attorney General Medina Mora of Mexico, and we discussed the unprecedented levels of violence his country is facing because of their enforcement efforts," he said.

Holder declined to offer any time frame for the reimplementation of the assault weapons ban, however.

"It's something, as I said, that the president talked about during the campaign," he said. "There are obviously a number of things that are -- that have been taking up a substantial amount of his time, and so, I'm not sure exactly what the

In a brief interview with ABC News, Wayne LaPierre, president of the National Rifle Association, said, "I think there are a lot of Democrats on Capitol Hill cringing at Eric Holder's comments right now."

During his confirmation hearing, Holder told the Senate Judiciary Committee about other gun control measures the Obama administration may consider.

"I think closing the gun show loophole, the banning of cop-killer bullets and I also think that making the assault weapons ban permanent, would be something that would be permitted under Heller," Holder said, referring to the Supreme Court ruling in Washington, D.C. v. Heller, which asserted the Second Amendment as an individual's right to own a weapon.

The Assault Weapons Ban signed into law by President Clinton in 1994 banned 19 types of semi-automatic military-style guns and ammunition clips with more than 10 rounds.

"A semi-automatic is a quintessential self-defense firearm owned by American citizens in this country," LaPierre said. "I think it is clearly covered under Heller and it's clearly, I think, protected by the Constitution."
    Oh NOES, GUN CONTROL!

I some how doubt this. I'd be very interested in knowing how many of these guns are legal assault rifles made in the US and how many of them are old stock out of the USSR.

And lol at banning guns to fix that problem. I don't know, how about the US help its neighbor out and actually send someone down there to liquate those cartels? Oh noes, lets not do that. Lets just take their guns away and let them live in shit. Awesome.

seriously, wtf is he talking about? What are these sophisticated guns he talks about? Were they using muzzle loaders? Are we shipping them ED209s?

We have gernades for sale!?! shit! sign me up.

It all sounds like bullshit to me. A lame effort to pull in republican Mexican immigrants to the democratic party.

I don't think you know me all that well. I have no problem with your beliefs, and I won't argue with you about them unless you actually want to debate it or learn more about the other side.

What I have a problem with is ignorant or deceitful people telling lies about the science side of it. Rather than justifying their own beliefs, they're trying to tear down science with misinformation. You've never gone there.

Believe me, I have no love for militant athiests that blame religion for all the world's wars and ills. Those people are just as bad.

Not if the constitution is involved. The supreme court has prohibited federally mandated prayer and other similar issues. This issue is a little more complicated because it's likely not being taught as fact. What it IS being used for is to emphasize a weakness in evolutionary theory that isn't true.

When this is has been done before, they put a section in the book that says "Well creationist think this and this and this are flaws in evolutionary theory" and those claims aren't scientifically credible. But it's not unconstitutional to teach bad science, and it's not unconstitutional to acknowledge the existence of religious views and discuss them, so it could be a hard fight on letter of law.

EDIT - I also find it odd how no one still attributes any blame to Clinton and we're back to talking about nonsense.

I don't find it odd at all. It's typical head in the sand liberalism.

They think volcano monitoring is an issue (without any mention of the cost mind you), but the fact that their least useless President of the last half century (how sad is that?) laid the foundation for the mortgage crisis isn't worth discussing. When you add that to Clinton's complete unwillingness to deal with Al Qaeda, I don't think Obama was the guy who inherited the set up.

But you do this too. All of our problems now come from Clinton and two years of a Democratic congress. Nobody anywhere wants to take any goddamn responsibility.

why don't we help the cops out? Give them better resources maybe?

I don't know, it just sounds stupid to me to ban things here, to try to change things in another country.

In Mexico, guns are difficult to purchase legally. So, officials say, weapons easily purchased in the United States are turning up there.
doesn't this illustrate the idea that gun banning actually gives more power to criminals?
