Fully automatic weapons have been banned since the 1930's, though it is still possible for responsible, law-abiding Americans to purchase and own them (an expensive and lengthy process however). A ban will not take weapons off the street. Illegal activity involving gun crime is generally done with weapons that are owned illegally in the first place. In fact, very little crime is committed with legally owned weapons.

The only danger involving gun legislation is the danger to lawful Americans ability to maintain and defend their freedom. It has nothing to do with being a militant minded person (which I suppose I am...I guess) and everything to do with being dedicated to the principles that this country was founded on. If you're not willing to defend your freedoms then I don't think you really deserve them in the first place.

People do stupid stuff when they're angry, making something difficult for them to do to prevent it from happening in a fit of rage is beneficial. Also it's hard to use the bolded statement as a defense because it works both ways. One way is well "If they're going to do a crime they'll do it anyways and find a way around it" but there's no statistics that will show you the amount of crimes avoided due to gun control laws. Because there are claims that the reason the numbers are the way they are is due to gun control laws.

Also the militant comment wasn't supposed to be mean or anything, you just have a more military mindset.

Drunk or angry people aren't going to have an easier time doing something dumb with an assault rifle than they would with a shotgun or a pistol. The people who do real damage with assault rifles aren't at all affected by typical Democratic symbolism over substance gun control.

Although if you want o make the world safe for care bears, angry and drunk people do dangerous things with cars, knives, lawn mowers, baseball bats, and Asians wielded as weapons too. We should ban all of those, clearly.

Because all of them are even 2% as effective as 30 quick shots. Mmmhmm reasonable comparisons. Though explain what you mean by substance gun control, because Bans are one way, I don't really care what way as long as there are restrictions in place and things done to prevent someone from easily grabbing an assault rifle and unloading bullets.

I'm all for better ways: The end results of protecting people from that kind of action is more important to me than whether it be a ban, or even stricter control of who can have a gun, or explosive microchips that can be activated in any gun upon removal or threat.
