Thread: H2Overdrive - A spiritual sequel to Hydro Thunder for Arcades

Assuming Midway doesn't go under, it wouldn't surprise me if they did release a home port as Hydro Thunder 2. Remember Cruis'n on Wii?

Why would they want to port this home, let alone in a hurry? I don't follow.
I'm relatively sure that a port would be review-proof. Either people are going to be into this game or they aren't, and the reviews won't matter either way. If people keep buying the Cruisin' games then H2Overdrive will do fine, so long as expectations are kept reasonable.

And they'd release it at home soon-ish because there are like, what, 12 arcades left nationwide?

  3. I'd get this, assuming they don't fuck it up like fatal inertia... this seems like the perfect type of game to release on psn/xbla too assuming they can keep it under that magic limit for xbox

edit: I, too, have fond memories of playing hydro thunder at the arcades

  4. After watching the videos again, H2Overdrive is clearly last-gen, whether we're talking arcades or consoles. It's clearly on the level of original Xbox or Xbox-based Chihiro board.

Still, that's a generation beyond the original Hydro Thunder which was mainly powered by a Banshee level 3Dfx Quantum3D Obsidian card, well below the performance of the Voodoo3 powered San Fransisco Rush 2049 and Arctic Thunder.
