Well, yeah, that's definitely the reason. But perhaps there are better ways to go about piracy protection than screwing over every Vita user. Those memory cards aren't very big and being forced to keep external HDD backups when we have PSN/Live/Steam is ridiculous.

By the way, Apple pulls the same thing with any iOS game that doesn't support cloud saving. So 98% of them.

Release date for the Japanese version of Ys: Foliage Ocean in Celceta (love that Falcom english in the title) is... 9/27.

Ys Seven took just about 11 months to show up in English after it debuted in Japan, so hopefully the turnaround will be about the same.

Vita save games are either on the game card or part of the game file on your system. There's no way to separate your save from your game data. You're supposed to back it up to a PC like an iPhone or whatever. Kind of sucks.

RAGE!!! This is almost like a regression to 16-bit battery backup carts. And as epmode said: you delete the PSN version of a game to get back memory card space, you nuke your save.
Sony can't stop the hax... people will find other ways. Besides, we need something like Remote Joy Lite for Vita. And not every PSP UMD that may be in your collection has a download version for sale.
