AMAZING movie. Words cannot describe the joy I felt after seeing this.
It showed you how everything could happen for a reason (I, personally, don't really believe in this) and just the ups and downs people go through in life. It makes you appreciate the shit you go through, and maybe, one day, that shit will come in handy
Jamal and Salim hustling was a blast to watch. Stealing the shoes and BSing the tour guiding was hilarious.
If I could change one thing, however it would be that Jamal loses on the last question because the whole point was for him to find Latika. He went on the show to find her. So in calling his brother, he got through to her, so he knew how to reach her, which at the same time makes the last train station scene pointless.
It also goes with the whole "everything happens for a reason" theme. He didn't get to class on time or read the book or whatever, so he didn't know the answer.
Then again, one could argue it was his destiny to win after he didn't listen to the host and went with D, but I still would've rather had him lose for the reasons I stated.
Nevertheless, I highly enjoyed this and would recommend it to everyone. I haven't seen the other Oscar nominated films for best picture, but this would is going to be hard to top.

Well he had already found her. The money was their ticket out, and without it, they could never be together. So it works
Anyway, I loved this too. I think it's been badly marketed as some kind of art house/foreign/independent movie. Even though I like indie flicks (even prefer them) this has potential to be a maintream popcorn movie with mass appeal that went unexploited.
I dunno if it's my favorite of the year. It's top 3 for sure, though.
Well I think with better advertising they could have at least communicated that the movie is in English, which a lot of people don't seem to realize.
Are they failing to point out it's a Danny Boyle film in the US?

I thought it was too until the guy at the local movie theater connected it with Trainspotting, and whoever on NPR mentioned it wasn't really an Indian movie.

Well, I KNEW it was Danny Boyle film. I just thought it was India/British/US production, making it a part Bollywood film.
Also, there IS a sing and dance number in the film (at the end, so I was a bit right about that), though the film is not your typical Indian type of film.
I have it, I just need to get to watch more of it.
