Not flying anywhere near New York confirmed.
This happened about 17 miles from where I live, as you can imagine it's dominating the local news this morning and is catching national headlines as well.

It's one of those things you feel like always happens somewhere else, but this is pretty close to home. Hard to imagine being in your home and having it get hit by a plane.

I just heard this on the radio when I woke up. So messed up...
And your right, I never had a problem with flying to and from buffalo, because it always seemed like "nothing would ever happen there." But this just shows how naive that way of thinking is. So, needless to say I'm taking the bus each and every time from now on, to Buffalo and back.
I have a call about a mile from where it was at... I'll try and take some shitty phone pics.
Edit - Nevermind. I'll take pictures of the road blocks.

Well, I guess that streak ended...

I saw this last night and it freaked me out.
One of my mom's cousins lives in Clarence Center near the exact street where the crash took place.

Yeah, odds of getting into an accident (or getting decapitated) on a bus are just as likely, or more likely as a plane crash. Accidents happen and there are risks in anything you do.
This won't deter me from flying, it's just one of those odd things where you think it always happens somewhere else.
Well that sucks. Accidents can happen anywhere, and statistically speaking, it is safer to fly than to drive.
