If I'm remembering the Anime, it was boring as shit.
The anime was pretty cool too.

Compared to the mystery pitcher anything is boring as shit now.

I liked the anime, despite the fact that it had almost no story whatsoever.

I hated the anime of this even when I was super into anime. Flat, boring characters, and ugly animation.
There was the original anime movie, and then there was the anime series, Blood+. The former kicked ass, the latter sucked.I assume you mean the series, because the animation in Blood was amazing and pioneered a lot of digital coloring and lighting techniques that changed the look of anime.

While I think the movie was indeed beautiful in many ways (especially the digital coloring and lighting, as you said), the animation itself was pretty choppy in some places. I recently re-watched it with my gf who did hand-drawn animation for years as a living and she totally agreed.

But incredibly detailed. Anime has always been about detail over framerate. I can't really think of any anime movie done entirely in Ones (24 frames a second) the way disney's movies are, but they make up for it with more complex, detailed characters.
This is true.
I'd love to see a movie do both consistently.
