I am not hooked up to the web and I haven't noticed anything glaringly missing, like the douche in camp asking for your credit card. There are shopkeepers that I have purchased things from.

It's not like the first game in the sense that enemies don't really drop anything. Upgrades aren't discrete; anything you get is party wide. Gear swapping/optimizing is pretty much non-existent, and as far as I can tell, your party members never change appearance (outside of designated plot points). The armor designs are such a strong point in the series, I had really hoped they went all out.

I haven't played too much of this game yet, but I did make it past the opening portions of it. It's really rad so far, although I'm still getting used to the game so I don't really have any decent impressions of it yet. There seems to be a more clearly defined "exploration" mode and "mission/shooter" mode this time around. The game breaks up the exploration parts and shooter parts pretty obviously this time around. The view is also much tighter on Sheperds back like in Arkham Asylum or RE5. I can't wait to get off work and go home to play some more.

Aw, that sucks. I loved the variety in armor from the first game.

Yeah, they have certainly made the large shift from RPG with Shooter Elements to Shooter with stats.

LOL so Best Buy emailed me the preorder code for the Inferno armor today. I listed it on eBay for $14.99 and it sold within 40 minutes. Awesome. I'll probably wind up making money on the game after I sell it, just like I did with Dragon Age.

The RPG stuff in the first game was pretty fluff, in my experience. I prefer what they've done here, if only so I don't have to wade through 80 near-identical weapons before making a decision that doesn't mean shit.
