Aeris...dammit Yoshi! Anyway, you can only get Legion near the end of the game. Once you get him a count down starts behind the scenes. If you don't launch the suicide mission by a certain point your crew gets liquified. Having to do Tali's mission after Legion would take too long on the counter.

Again I go back to how much I like that they make the crew feel a little more alive in this one than in the last one too. Also it was cool to enjoy a drink with chakwas

So I can't get Legion's loyalty? I'm at the point in the game where the crew were just abducted by the Collectors. And I still have to do Legion's loyalty mission. If I do Legion's loyalty I run the risk of losing the crew, then?

If that's true, gay. I might play through the game again with a different lead character just to see the other shit going on. Maybe sell Legion to Cerberus and Jettison Grunt's tank

How? The crew capture happened as soon as I finished the IFF mission. I didn't even get a chance to land anywhere else.

The crew capture happened when I tried to do the loyalty mission of Legion. It didn't give me any other choice. So it seems it's like... the crew dies or I risk Legion dying. I'm much more willing to let the former happen than the latter. Legion is amazing. I definitely want him walking around in my ME3.
