Thread: VO:OT

  1. VOOT works with the DC controller, but it really is a whole different game that way.

  2. 5.66 speed increase apparently makes mid-dash rotation more important, but the two extra shoulder buttons on the 360 solve that problem.

I was concerned about things like rowing, but if the controls are set up properly, it should be doable on a pad.

When was mid dash rotating ever important? Watari dashing yes, rotated dashes, I can't think of a reason why you would ever need to do a curved dash.

  4. The technical talk in this thread makes me feel funny in my pants.

  5. Oh, we can take this to PM and I can go into detail about Dash Cancelling, CW -> RW/LW cancelling, how to correctly control Vipers SLC dive, a 3 hit combo for 100% damage with Apharmd, attacking people on the ground, wake up cancels, anti-wake up Melee attacks, the various forms of Bal Bas and its advantages, even how to kill Tangram before its armor opens..... And more!

Fuck the PMs and just go straight into VOOT Tech talk then we can complain about little shit like how Angelan is the only VR that doesn't have a delay after a dash attack, or we can talk up strats on landing Cypher's airdash CC attack.

Maybe we can have an intense debate on which Apharmd is better?

I am curious on how to kill Tangram before its armor opens considering all attacks that I know do like 3% at best while the armor is closed.

You hit the trigger, you start rotating and firing at the same time. You rotate ahead of time, you rotate further and have more of a chance of hitting the opponent with, say, both Temjin's fwd dash RW hits rather than one.

If you're dash vectoring and time it well you should be able to do that anyways. Add in a watari towards the opp and that should happen as well. This sounds like a neat trick but not necessary. OTOH I was playing earlier today and noticed that if you can predict which directions your opp likes to dash then you can rotate and fire off a long beam such as Raiden's CW and if they're really jumpy they'll dash into it. You could still feasibly do this with the DC pad but it would be a bigger pain in the ass.

If we're really lucky then they'll have customizable controls and we can have the DC pad plus two rotation buttons on the 360 so there really won't be any hassle doing any of the rotating tricks. Then we would actually see the input superiority of the pad in this game. If they try to force the twin sticks deal with the shoulder buttons and analogs I think the game will suck and be a mess. Dual sticks work well with your hands but not as well with your thumbs.

Yeah, I mean, what is the deal with Angelans V-Armor? I can be point blank and that shit will bounce off her, even at like 30%!

I would have to say Apharmd from Marz, because he has a cowboy hat. Enough said.

This was more or less a bug that was encountered when MentholMoose and other West Coast VOOT players were fiddling with the DC disk (as well as trying to reverse engineer the 5.66 demo for DC, hooray for having a copy) and I forget who exactly it was, but someone found a way to get tangram to never open its armor and the only VR to successfully kill him was Bal Bas Bow (IIRC, the Bal form for Tangram).

I wish I could dig up where I saw the video, but it was impressive.

Also, ground Melee attacks are great finishers. Also Cyphers Midair Melee is supreme, I am so sad she takes so much damage or I'd be tempted to make her my main.

  10. Was Virtual On a really popular series? Wasn't it a pretty niche over here?
