Thanks for clearing that up MM, All I could remember was using a second disk to do all that.
A VO fan named Scott created a trainer disc called "cust-plus" that (among other things) allowed you to use saved custom color schemes in single player and versus modes of DC VOOT. The US DC VOOT didn't include the color scheme editor, so people used the "VR Customize Disc" to edit color schemes for use on US VOOT with cust-plus.
The VR Customize Disc was included by Sega on a demo disc with a Japanese magazine (IIRC "dorimaga"). It was similar to the emblem and color scheme editor included with the Japanese DC VOOT, except that it also supported the three new VRs in arcade VOOT, and could also customize "Quick Messages" also for use with DC VOOT.
There was no "test" mode with the VR Customize Disc like in the editor in Japanese DC VOOT, but Scott's cust-plus disc could unlock test mode functionality, allowing you to try out the new VRs (it was incomplete and buggy, but cool nonetheless). There's actually a thread explaining cust-plus at oratan.com if you want to know how to get it all working.
There was no fan disc for editing VR color schemes, but a fan did create a Windows utility for creating them. It was more in depth than the official editors, but it was time consuming to use. Still, the results could be very cool. The utility is still available at the Virtual-On Customize Factory.

It's up.
The good:
It ain't truly HD, but it looks great.
LB and RB can be set to rotate, and it works fine.
Default scheme is pretty much a copy of the DC scheme.
I can play fuckin' VOOT online. I just got killed by some Japanese Cypher player, but I put up a fight.
The bad:
You can't move with the d-pad. It just sits there doing nothing. You have to move with the analog stick. This is incredibly stupid.
No emblems. Expected, given how MS treats that sort of thing.
I can't imagine d-pad support being patched in, but I guess people could ask.
It's good! Getting the 'ol VO vibes again.
every player so far with an idolmaster gamerpic hasn't been very good.
get on the ball japan
I'll probably get reamed in a day or so.
It looks like a high res version of the DC game, which still looks pretty decent. I forgot how to play this game, but the demo lets you fight alot of mechs (I quit on Angelan, she keeps kicking my ass).
lol custom mechs still come from a VMU.
Matchmaking in ranked is a pain in the ass, but other than that I like what I see.
Are you sure about no d-pad support? I checked the control options and there is a Control Type B which highlights the D-pad as X,Y,A,B, which is set up I presume for those who want to hack their Twinsticks to 360 pads.
Can anyone provide a good website that goes over how to play Virtual On? I was playing until late last night and I really don't know what I'm doing. Also, what's the best way to setup my controller to play this?
