Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

All the elements that make Silent Hill be Silent Hill are right there, in the original games and broken down endlessly online. Why are they so hard to understand? Creepy town turns into terrifying town, and the horror is an external manifestation of the main character's inner problems. It may not be easy to do but it's a pretty straightforward formula. You'd think they'd try and stick to it now and then.

Man I called this. I played the original Silent Hill and loved it. Now some retards are trying to recreate something they had no part in and as such, no clue on what makes those games great. Maybe they should work on making their own shit instead of trying to piggyback on the work of others.

Just found out about that myself....it really is too bad. Awful, in fact. I hope that Yamaoka will still contribute occasionally to IIDX, but Silent Hill is pretty dead at this point. I suppose I'm happy that I have 1-4, and that they are still highly playable as a whole. 4 less so, but whatever.

I wonder what he's going to go on to work on...?

Well, 8.0 from Nintendo Power and 8.6 from IGN. Even putting aside my bitching about how a Silent Hill game is totally not Silent Hill, I'm not sure I'd rate it that high as a general survival horror title period.

But, obviously, I have no idea what I'm talking about, because people are saying "it's not scary at all but it's still an 8.6!" and calling it a grand time.

Yeah, they're starved for non-Carnival Games on Wii...everything is an 8.6...The Conduit got an 8.6 on IGN.
