The DC had a large following of rabid fanboys, not big name publishers.
I don't care how long they last, really. I bought none of the current consoles until a year after each had been released, and I won't be buying any new ones for quite some time, no matter what gimmicks they include. Fuck new hardware cycles arriving so quickly.

Yeah they've lost more money in the last 2 - 3 years on the PS3 than what they made on the PS and PS2 combined.
The PS3 will be here a while. In America, dev costs are kind of high. In Japan, they'll discover next gen in 2015.

That's an odd thing to go back on. I never took 10 years to mean "10 years without a new console"... part of that was obviously going to encompass a lengthy period of co-habitation with the successor, like PS1 did and PS2 is now doing.
Yeah, see at first I was going to say the typical "well, it doesn't mean no new system for ten years" but then he specifically mentions the cycle as if it won't have the legs that the PS2 has.
But I said above, I don't think it's an issue because Japan is so assbackwards now it'll take 5 years to get it right
