Thread: What Are You Playing? - March

  1. R-Type Dimensions.

  2. #82
Resident Evil 5. As soon as I get 1000/1000 I am never touching it again, though. DLC can go die, especially deathmatch? Please.

FFT on the PSP. Balthier makes Mustadio go sit in a corner and die like the blair witch. Also Loco Roco and Patapon, both the first ones... missed them the first time around, enjoying them greatly now.

Every so often I do some levels in World of Goo on Steam.

  3. I'm a little burned out on online SFIV, so I started F.E.A.R. I'm not really sure what to think yet. The last two games in this vein that I played were GoW2 and Half Life 2, and I don't think this is going to be as good as either of those. The loads of stockable health packs and the regenerating bullet time meter seem like kind of a balance cop-out, and I'm not that hot on the level design -- it seems like a lot of Here's A Rectanglular Room Filled With Dumpsters Or Something without any care paid to pacing, enemy placement or cover points. The effects and the hallucinations are rad, though.

Still playing Wipeout Pure, and holy shit is it hard. I can not for the life of me get Golds in the time trials of Flash (3rd) class. I've been working on the same exact track, Modesto Heights, the second Alpha track, for three lunchbreaks now. If I'm lucky, I can finish with Bronze.

  4. So Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Saga is really fun, although if I want to get 80 or even 100%, then I'll need to play each of the levels at two, or more likely three times, which doesn't seem like something I'll commit to.

I rented and finished Shellshock 2 for some shitty acheivement. Not incredibly bad, better than Jericho. Still pretty shitty though. Kinda reminded me of Far Cry Instincts for some reason.

Also rented Mad World. Ok the 480i really wasnt an issue with this game. The black and white looked just fine on my tv. Its pretty good, but I wont be finishing it. It is fucking hilarious though, but the waggle controls still annoy me. The game would've been just fine without them. Still glad I didnt buy it.

  6. Tried Puzzle Quest: Galactrix and while it has a few promising elements, its overall design is terribly boring. The original PQ does everything better, and simply playing through again as a different class would beat anything Galactrix has to offer. Not recommended.

Culdcept Saga still gets some play every now and then when the g/f wants to game, but its shoddy design remains disappointing. In particular for us currently, the rate which it awards new cards is frustrating. I actively 'grinded' (30 card speed deck) for cards and still have plenty missing and 1-of's, but for my g/f who only plays casually it's impossible to create an interesting deck. Online continues to fail, not that it ever worked for me (even in private matches).

Street Fighter IV. Getting better at this game feels more like work then play. The online is dull, although playing TNLers is fun. One problem I encounter is that the transitions between relative skill levels is pretty harsh. I either destroy the lesser-skilled or get stomped by the better players; rarely are there close, back-and-forth matches. I have a charity tournament on the 9th that I'm still undecided on.

  7. Henry Hatsworth! It's great! Ho ho ho.

Some of the best voice acting I've heard yet!

  8. Demon's Souls.

  9. I'm finishing up the last few achievements I need for RE 5, and I sincerely doubt I'll play through it on Professional. In fact, once I've upgraded all the weapons and gotten an "S" ranking on all stages, I'm done with this one forever. To trade-in it goes.

I'm also playing the Pitt DLC for Fallout 3, and it rocks. It's a bit short though, or at least it seems like it is, but that's probably because of how much fun I'm having. Fallout 3 is like Oblivion to me in that I wish it would go on forever.

Last but not least is Star Wars: the Force Unleashed, which I got used a week ago. It's a blast and one of the better SW games released lately, and I'll definitely buy the DLC pack for the extra mission.

I've seen this pretty cheap, and it's piqued my interest. Is it just another military FPS, or is there some twist to it? That it's mediocre is no big deal, as I've played through Civil War (which isn't actually that bad for a rental).

  10. I started Lost Odyssey tonight. I must be playing a homeless person because I'm walking around as a dude with a bare mid riff and I pick all kinds of stuff out of the trash.
