Thread: 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs

  1. Avery doesn't routinely try to injure people. Ruutu does. It doesn't matter, though, because all I want is consistency from period to period from game to game from player to player. That's it. I've watched TONS of hockey this year on Center Ice, NBC, etc... and Crosby has done shit that would get a guy like Avery suspended and he gets a pass because of who he is. I'm all for protecting talented players through rules, etc... But the standard has to be consistent and it really, really isn't.

Aaaaand the goal that beats the Rangers is glove side high.

So do I win the "Lundqvist has a weak high glove" argument yet?

  3. Marty gave up two softies yesterday and blew a one goal lead with 90 seconds left. Shut up.

    Why the fuck should I?

Devils didn't lose anything because of Marty this year. They lost because the team in front of him quit on the game with five minutes left.

In any case you don't have to admit that you were wrong trying to argue that point with me for like, a year and a half, because I've known that I've been right about it for like a year and a half.

  5. And you're saying the Rangers lost because of Lundqvist giving up a goal on a screened shot? He didn't have nearly a strong a team in front of him as Marty did.

    Edit: Blocker side high x2

If you'll concede that Marty is weak on his blocker side, sure. :P

No, I'm saying Lundqvist is weak high glove.

Marty isn't weak blocker side. <shrug> He's losing more because the d in front of him isn't as good, and thems facts. He has often let up softies in crucial situations. Marty has weaknesses but it's not blocker.

  8. I still disagree. Marty wouldn't have stopped that shot either and I don't think it's a result of being "weak" as much as it is how deep he plays in his crease because his "D" constantly (Redden, particularly) collapses towards him.

  9. In any event, this year was a total fucking loss for the MetroNY area. I can't believe the next local hockey is 4 months away.

Marty may have. Lundqvist was, as you said, way too deep in his crease and took the wrong angle, and is always looking to block low. Marty probably would have challenged a lot more aggressively, stood up and been prepared to take high.

He gets a lot of those saves, Marty does. When he gets beat is when the defender can't stop the pass across on the 2 on 1, because he expects the defender to allow the shot and block the pass, and plays it that way.

I can't believe it either. The series doesn't even feel like it's over. I want to say this team didn't deserve to lose, but they quit with 5 minutes left, or started playing scared. I CAN say that the Devils are a better team than the Canes and should have won this series if they managed to play full 60 minute games. All season I've seen these Devils lose by not playing 60 minutes, and I am

    SICK
    AND
    TIRED
OF SEEING THE HURRICANES BEAT US IN THE CLOSING SECONDS. SICK.

It's disgusting that the Devils gave away game 6 instead of treating it like a game 7.
All the bullshit that happened in the game is disgusting.
All the effort wasted is disgusting.
And feeling like my team was at the end and quit on me is the most fucking disgusting. I almost feel betrayed. I thought this was the year, I said it before the season. I put more money and time and hope and expectation into this year than I have in a long time. This was the year we were built to go deep, certainly, but the team pussied the fuck out when it fucking counted, AFTER doing a great job for the first 55 minutes. Fuck.

I've probably spent $2,000 on Devils related stuff this year, at least.
