Mike Tyson's Intergalactic Power Punch

Always wondered why there was a Power Punch II. Just kinda assumed they were trying to gravy train of Punch Out. So this is the exact same as Power Punch II, but with Tyson?

If I remember correctly, Nintendo commissioned Power Punch to be an official sequel to Punch Out. Then they saw how much it sucked and ran away screaming and the devs put the game out without them or the Punch Out license.

That's how the legend goes, but I've never seen any interviews confirming a reason. It's just as possible that it was just the Mike Tyson hang up and they weren't interested once he was tainted.
