I'm surprised at how many people feel this way. You'd think it's impossible to love R-Type and DoDonPachi at the same time.Yeah, it's pretty meh to me. I'm sick of the whole bullet death shooter. Give me a old school shmup any day.

Athena's Shining Crystal Bit would make a good bomber attack. She doesn't really seem to be too odd of a character choice for this one, but it'll be interesting to see how they rework Kyo. His "Kurai... YAGARE!" quote needs to be in for one of his special attacks.
I'll bet the story isn't canon. I could see the story taking place in Kyo's dream, with Yuki yelling "Kyo! Wake up!" in some really hilarious ending that parodies one from Darius II.
Bring on a Psycho Soldier HD, especially since KOF XII sprites for Athena & Kensou exist. Use their KOF'96 Neo-CD arranged theme as one of the tracks. Maybe even give Ikari Warriors a similar treatment, making it a bit more manic and adding in some extra weapons like an RPG. The right stick could be used for 360 degree aiming as in Omega 5.

Blazing Star for the mother fucking win. Its the only reason (besides maybe Shock Troopers and Garou) that I really, REALLY wish I had a NeoGeo.
Also those two screens are not impressive so far.
