BTW, I was just going through this thread, and I can't believe I never posted my take on this movie.

Overall, it was pretty good, but not amazing or anything. AB was a credible tough guy and the assorted characters each had cool and/or likable things about them (I dug the Yakuza and the Spetsnaz dudes). The actions scenes were solid but Predators basically came across as a less-macho retread of the original movie. Still, it was fun, and I enjoyed how it paid ample homage to the 80's flicks, but it did seem a tad on the pedestrian side; restrained almost, in some ways.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to a potential sequel. We'll see what comes out of Comic Con.

I've seen bits and pieces of it again such as the Hanzo vs Predator fight but I haven't seen it again fully since first seeing it in theaters. Looking back I mentioned how I liked it perhaps more than Predator 2 and I think I still have that feeling but at the same time I have give credit to Predator 2 for A) the awesome Alien easter egg and B) going into a different setting with cops and urban warfare. Predators does dip back into the well the first established quite a bit and borrows some of it's tricks but even with that I was just glad the franchise was separated from the whole AvP thing and focused on it's own canon again.

Yeah, I figured it would be something to do with the first movie, based on the quote they used.

I think I would have preferred a sequel announcement...I already own the DVD, which is good enough for me.
