He should be ashamed of a lot of movies. He is slowly failing his way up and bringing in ungodly amounts of money.
I blame the audience. Who the hell went to see Transformers 2 after the first one? Assholes are who.
There's no reason product has to suck. Dumbing something down to be a PG-13 maximum audience/revenue generator doesn't require throwing out such simple storytelling techniques as plot, characterization, or having an action sequence that makes any kind of logical sense. Despite the fact that it somehow made money, TF2 is bad product and Michael Bay should be ashamed of it.

Cheebs: "You guys are watching it wrong, when it isn't shit blowing up, just close your eyes and jerk off or go outside and make a few phone calls then come back to watch more shit blow up."
The point was the margin for TF2 was much bigger than D9. Him saying D9 made more money for the studio is blatantly wrong.

Yes, it was incoherent, illogical, and devoid of basic storytelling technique. It was also shot with a patch-work script cobbled together by a dozen people probably not in communication with each other in the middle of a writer's strike.
None of that matters. The "awesome" was able to overcome.
But none of THAT matters because we are talking about D9!

I only just now saw this movie.
I loved it personally. I do get the feeling that a lot of ideas in this movie might have been ideas salvaged from things that possibly would have been in a Halo movie (mainly the action sequences and alien weaponry). I thought the film was just smart enough not to be grating and had just enough action and "YES!!" moments to keep just about anyone perfectly riveted to their seats. Wikus (sp) was amazing, I'm more amazed that this was his first film.
My favorite of those "Yes!" moments was when that Merc dickhead was saying how Wikus will never know what even hit him just as the explosions go off outside of MMU. That generated a hearty "fist pump" from me.
