Thread: Apple Eyeing EA?

Really cares about me? Are you high?

Apple has, as of last September, about $12 billion in cash on hand. I don't see them dishing out $3.5 billion for controlling interest, let alone $7b for the whole thing. The other option of them trading Apple shares for EA shares would be just as stupid.

Apple has never taken games seriously, and I doubt they're going to start by laying down billions. On top of that, Apple rarely buys companies, and I believe their biggest to date was NeXT Computer for half a billion. That brought them Steve Jobs and the beginnings of OS X, the core of most of their hardware.

  2. Sorry I don't have my applefanboy garb on right now. It's apparent you don't get business, and that's okay, but listen and learn once in a while, kid.

If apple buys EA (and it's a big IF) they get access to a large partner of Microsoft, which means they get access to the XBOX360 specs, operating system, and other various points of interest to apple IN ADDITION to now being actively engaged with MS and their console audience.

  3. Alright, dad. Let's sit back and see if Apple takes your amazing business advice.

  4. I said it's a big IF, but it's still a favorable move for marketshare and client control.

  5. Biff why are you drunk at 10:46 in the morning?

  6. Because your mother likes to drink gin for breakfast.

  7. Look man, when you start spouting your opinion as fact, it usually means you're drunk. The statement Schelp was making wasn't that Apple is too good for this, it's that this rumor about them getting into games has been around forever, and the amount of running in the red it takes to break into the console business, whether EA fuckface is behind them or not, is something they simply couldn't afford.

To buy EA without any other intention, even if it's to get access to secret Microsoft specs and marketshare control (a market they don't need unless they are getting into the business) would be pretty silly.

    Also, Fuck EA.

  8. I can't imagine it would be too difficult to get 360's secret sauce. Apple execs must know how to google.

I would LOVE that, because that means Visual Concepts' 2K series moves to the forefront on the Microsoft and Sony consoles.
