    They're combo-based juggle-heavy beat em ups. If it matters, I'd also include Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks in the genre too. I guess my criteria are a little broader than yours.

  2. This is perhaps the best way I can describe my position. I can make a distinction between a high level DMC 3 SE, Bayonetta, or even a NG player, but I can't really do that with GOW as competency in the latter is more due to familiarity with the game's AI rather than the intricacies of the combat engine. There are things I see done in DMC 3 SE, Bayonetta, etc., that I cannot do without putting in practice, getting the timing down, buffering, canceling, aspects that require a level of mastery, just something that is more rewarding for me and why I consider the GOW games and HS to be rentals - because there's really nothing that draws you back for more that you cannot revisit on YouTube. Just my thoughts, but this sentiment re-emphasizes why I love Bayonetta.

    Agreed. Seeing videos of high level players on DMC3SE boggles the mind at just how good they are, whereas with the GoW games, it seems more like here is this enemy, do this combo.

  7. There's no most likely. I've beat it multiple times now, it really is almost DMC3SE level of great.

  8. It's a toss up between the two. I could easily see someone preferring one over the other depending on what day of the week it is.

  9. I'll side with Bayonetta, though I've only played the demos. It doesn't have the stiffness to the movement of the DMC series that I always disliked.

  10. Took the plunge and bought ps3 version cause I got it used in Japan for not too bad. Will check out Xbox 360 version when it hits US.

    Here's why it is so awesome -- it's pure T&A delight. The action is ridiculous -- deep, precise, and addicting. Level and creature designs are awesome. Story is fun and you'll actually want to watch the cut scenes. No reason that this shouldn't be a must buy for the action fan. I haven't had this much interest in playing an action game since DMC1. Seriously, it deserves all the hype.
