I just finished chapter 3 (I guess I've played like 13 stages) and have had no slowdown issues. Not too many direct Castlevania references so far, but there was a Portal reference.
The level/character design, especially once you get into the Vampire portion of the game is SO MUCH BETTER than God of War, at least in my opinion. Too be honest though, I never really got past level 2 on any of the GOW games, because they didn't keep me too interested. I had GoW3 from Gamefly for almost 2 months and only played it twice.

I thought most of those GI dudes have been around since they had Sonic 2 on the cover. Andy, Reiner, etc.

Even back in 1991 it was owned and run by Funcoland, when Gamestop bought Funcoland in 2000 they got ownership of GI with it.

So this game is pretty awesome. Its actually getting better the further I get. I'm on Chapter 4 and I'm having way more fun than I did with GoW 3. This game also rapes Dante's Inferno in the face.
