The opening cutscene to this game with the CG version of the end of Super Metroid got me so fucking hard.

Yeah, the typical Team Ninja Shiny Purple Shit is all over.
This game is still better than the Metroid Prime games. There's no doubt in my mind about that.Originally Posted by kbu chan
I'd be fine with the aiming if it was just done by holding a button and use the dpad/analog. It's literally just that god damned controller rotation that presents an issue. Unskippable cutscenes are always bad, too.
Controller rotation aside, the combat is okay. Lite compared to NG, of course, but miles better than Prime. There's even a little bit of exploration going on that feels like Metroid.

I have to disagree with this fully and completely. The first Prime game alone walks all over this.
I think the characters and enemies look good, specially Samus' model. She looks like a 3D version of the Super Metroid sprite, as do most the enemies. It's the backgrounds that really need work. Team Ninja should have gotten some pointers from Retro on how to use good modeling and texture work to hide lower poly backgrounds. I think that's what hurts the backgrounds, is that they didn't even seem to attempt to hide the fact that they're lower poly.
One thing I think just about every developer could learn from Retro, is making each and every room/hallway feel unique. That's one thing you really have to give Retro credit for, specially in the first Prime, every room and hallway felt unique and organic.
I'm still enjoying the combat, and not having any issues with the controls. I really don't use FP view all that much. You can kill most enemies pretty fast using charge shots, jumping on their back, and those "lethal strike" actions. You also need to get good at the dodging and then releasing a fully charged shot, it seems to do more damage than just a regular charged shot.
Also people shouldn't be faulting Team Ninja for the story/cutscenes and such, that was all Sakamoto. He's also the one that wanted the game to be played with just the Wiimote held sideways. So any of that stuff you don't like you can fully blame Sakamoto for it.
Maybe Team Ninja is used to working on real consoles.
HA! HA! I AM USING THE INTERNET!!1
My Backloggery
I <3 the super metroid enemies done in 3d.
I just wish this was on a real console, with real controls![]()
