District 9 was pretty good but it was more of a "this could happen right now" sci-fi movie than hard-ass outer space sci-fi.

I have seen some bad writing in viral advertising or ARGs but that was horrible; it was not believable that anyone could ever be that stupid/crazy to link Prometheus -> ancient astronauts -> GM foods. The only thing that got right was that conservatives don't understand shit about evolution.
