I used to play Archon for NES all the TIME. I loved it. I was so amazed because it was a deep and complex strategy game I understood! (I was young...)

I have played Mail Order Monsters but I don't remember it well. I remember you chose from a bunch of creatures and the battles were kind of like Archon except you could select different attacks like an RPG or something.

You selected one creature, and took it to battle on a field, somewhat like those found in Archon. If your creature won, you could use money to purchase armour, weapons, or other battle armament. It was a pain leveling up your character, as the compentition was usually better fitted than your creature.
