What does that have to do with anything? You said the difference was getting smaller I said it was getting larger, I showed how so and you came back with yeah well people won't care about it. Most people as evident by sales don't give a fuck about the graphic difference between the Wii and the PS360, does that change the fact that there is a difference? No it doesn't.
Then educate the userbase, get hardware devs to brand their hardware better, what the fuck are you talking about with lack of standardization? DX is pretty much the graphics standard outside of high end 3D apps where its opengl. There's always going to be rampant piracy, its just something publisher need to come to grips with. You said there was no option for them, I presented an option. If they really wanted to get behind a 1 standard they would with the PC.Right, because PC gaming is plagued by a number of issues including an uneducated unserbase, confusing hardware branding, difficult development due to lack of standardization, and rampant piracy. So it's not exactly an ideal solution, either. As you said, it's about the money.
It's the same conversation because for your magical perfect for everyone one console perfect standard future to happen, the 1st parties are going to have to be involved. This is what I'm talking about, when I say you're being naive. Start thinking about this in a realistic way, and realize just how many cogs have to fall into place and sync up for this to happen, and you'll realize its not going to any time soon.Hoo boy, I guess we weren't even having the same conversation.
This is about the third parties adopting a third party standardized console, and having hardware companies be licensees. NOT about one of the existing or future first parties taking over.
If you're going to have this conversation then you have to look at and talk about every variable. You can't just say well if 3rd parties got together and make a standard everything would be perfect. Well what about 1st parties you think they're just going to go ohh hey that's cool we're joining you guys now wooot! Ofcourse not, and who sets this standard the 3rd parties get behind? Who picks what hardware goes into it, and a million other questions.
It's like well if you ignore all this other stuff and say this happens then this is going to happen, and there for people who say it can't happen are wrong! Its fucking asinine.
