Thread: Fantastic Mr. Fox

  1. I saw Life Aquatic in theaters and it rather confounded me. I love it now, but I don't think I knew what to think when I left at the time.

I went to a late showing of Mr. Fox on Saturday so there weren't many kids there (just one, I think). The movie did remind me more of a kids book than a kids movie. Kids books tend to be a bit more adult or extreme than something as mass-marketed as a major motion picture. I liked it, if I had a kid I'd take them to see this. I'm not sure that they'd like it, kids don't tend to have such a dry sense of humor.

I mean hell, they say 'shit' a few times in The Goonies.

Kids will enjoy it because it has fuzzy talking animals. They don't need to understand everything to enjoy something.

  3. Great movie, the animation is pretty incredible. There is a ton of detail hidden in there. The opossum is probably the best character, pretty funny at times. It was really cool to see an old school style kids story with the more adultish stuff in there.

I was literally rolling in the aisle laughing when I saw Life Aquatic.

Of course I had never seen a Wes Anderson movie before.

  5. This movie kicked ass. It was quirky in the best way possible. I'll also take stop-motion of CGI any day of the week.

Everyone started talking about it again and I want to see it =[

It's gotta be playing in town somewhere.

    you should. IT is good.

  8. i know i'm opening up a bag of biscuits here, but i really enjoyed this one much more than Where the Wild Things Are, which in all honesty should've been the better movie. Wild Things is all "*sniff...* i'm saaaaad" and Mr. Fox is all, "Hey! I have reason to be sad, but WOO WOOHOO, WOO! WOOOOOO! WOHOOOOOOOOO!"
    Donk

  9. I'm glad it's been getting positive remarks. I've been looking forward to this one.

Where The Wild Things Are was wildly disappointing.
