No, the digital copy at least makes a SMALL amount of sense, people wanting to put a copy of the movie on their Ipod/Iphone and such. Still stupid, but at least has some basis for its inclusion.

Couldn't you just rip the DVD and stick it on your iPod/iPhone? I thought that was the point of those things.
Even more of a reason not to get a PS3 and stick with my PS2.
Digital copies are pretty rad. I definitely welcome them.

The first round of 80gig PS3s played PS2 games by emulating the EE chip from the PS2. The 20/60gig models had the EE chip onboard so the emulation wasn't as unstable as that of the 80gig. Sony then released a 40gig model that removed the GPU chip found in the PS2 from the board as well and dropped the emulation because of it. They later relaunched the newer version of the 80gig PS3 that is essentially the same hardware as the 40gig.

The digital copy only makes sense if you're retarded. If they give you a DVD copy of it at least you can rip it and put it on what ever the fuck you want. Most of these digital copies only work with iTunes or only work with WMP. There's no one solution for them. Plus I could have sworn I heard of Disney or one of the other ones, only give you 6 months to a year to actually use the code.
DVD copy means I can do what ever the fuck I want with it, including using it on the dvd player in my bed room. Digital copy means DRMed to fucking hell and back and completely useless.
Anyway my pre-order for Metroid Prime trilogy came yesterday, the packaging and overall attention to detail put into it all is amazing.
