The categories aren't judged on whether the ideas are original, but more if it is directly base on a source material.

That said, it shouldn't win because it's unoriginal as fuck and the characters are flat, and the message is BASE AND WHAT IS WRONG WITH EVERYONE

I think Blood: The Last Vampire started that trend. But it's traveled far and wide. Even Igor Kovalyov has given in to the dark side.
