Thread: James Cameron's Avatar

  1. A USB tree fell on him offscreen and he got transferred into one of those cat people.

  2. He becomes what he despises!

  3. In this way the sequel plays with your notions of the concept YET AGAIN!

  4. In a sad scene we see the Colonel trying to control his mech as a giant Na'vi alien to regain his human side. Like the fat kid in a truck you know he probably shouldn't be sitting in.

  5. So I finally contributed to Cameron's ego tonight. Maybe it was my glasses interfering wtih my glasses but I felt most of the movie was 2D with the occasional 3D effect, and really it was just annoying. I liked the added depth it gave the scenes on ship, that was really well done, but after a while it was just the magic snowflakes.

I think the effects were fantastic, outside of the 3D anyway, and I look forward to watching it properly in 2D. The plot sucked, but at least it wasn't Ewoks killing ATAT level stupidity. Should I spoiler a movie that's made enough money to buy Uganda? I don't know. Anyway, I'm happy everything died at the end, due to stupidly attacking things with superior firepower. I also can't wait for the sequel, when that corporation drops an asteroid from orbit and wipes everything out, making the mineral somewhatmoreobtainium.

  6. While not directly related to the movie, I thought this was an interesting read. An open letter to James Cameron.
    Where I play

    Fail.

  8. saw this today, and it could easily be a half hour shorter and not skip a beat (mostly trim down the magic forest scenes, and many of the superfluous scenes with the space indians cat people) but I guess cameron had to jam pack all those fancy graphics in

the payoff in that was better, especially the classic version

I think it was that, cause you definitely spelled "with" wrong. Also, you forgot a comma. Might I add I wear glasses. Like I said in my review it took me 35 minutes for it to not affect me. That means taking off both glasses and staring at the ceiling for 10 seconds. By the time I was able to watch it without me having to do that. I saw the subtitles in my face.

No shit. You don't say? The 3D was to add depth and not shove the 3D in your face like Jaws 3-D or fucking Bloody Valentine 3D. It was subtle and was too add depth of field to the movie.

Agree on two parts, but the movie is way better in 3D.

No, at this point you can unspoiler it.

Did you really Miss The Point that badly? You would do less harm if you cut a half hour of plot instead. People aren't writing crazy lunatic ramblings on Avatar-depression community help forums because of anything the story did.

This movie lives and dies on the magical forest scenes and space cat Indians.
