I am really impressed that he didn't put any of his movies on the list.
The Matrix? WTF? Come on now, Quentin.
He didn't say Revolutions or whatever the other one was called, he said The Matrix. And he is right.
The first Matrix was awesome and ruined by the sequels.
No it isn't. That's a stupid fucking movie. It's no Speed Racer.
Donk
Come on, The Matrix is an amazing flick. It's just unfortunate that the 2 sequels were ever made and they do take something away from the original but not enough to totally ruin it.
There's only 2 films on that list I haven't seen yet (Memories of Murder & Dogville). I'll have to check them out soon.

What's always been interesting to me about Tarantino is how a lot of his prime influences are movies that I wouldn't necessarily even consider to be good, but somehow when those influences filter through QT's brain we get something great. He's clearly just seeing something in them that we're not.
Same for actors, really. He cast a lot of people (Michael Madsen, Travolta, Pam Grier, etc) who weren't really taken seriously as actors and maybe still aren't, but he saw something in them and was able to pull it out of them. I think that's his real talent.
We can haggle about The Matrix being a solid movie or not, but I think overall that list looks pretty different to what most people (let alone filmmakers or die hard film buffs) would pick as the Elite 20 of the last 17 years. Except for Lost in Translation and Boogie Nights, I don't think any of those won a major Oscar.
