Ghost Dog was great. So was Down by Law.
In regards to the Kubrick hate: I would submit that Eyes Wide Shut was extremely underrated. It was a great film that easily deserves more praise and notoriety than some of his other films (2001, A Clockwork Orange).

Yeah, the skin was over the top; but the atmosphere, the feel of the movie-- I have yet to feel anything else like it.
The part where Tom Cruise is walking down the streets, and the camera is all fuzzy, and the bald guy is trailing him, and that one piano key keeps repeating every so often... holy fucking shit.

EWS is terrible.
Pulp Fiction. Never understood the critics fascination with it.
Also: Chariots of Fire. What a fucking bore.
Edit: Also: Gangs of New York
There are several best picture winners that are kill yourself terrible. Around the World in 80 Days, How Green Was My Valley (over Citizen Kane, lol), fucking Tom Jones.
A Man for All Seasons isn't too bad but it's rather boring.
