What's wrong with this country is that Biff and Yoshi think they have all the answers.
Well we can't execute robbers or rapists, even pedos according to the current supreme court as per their reading of the 8th amendment. So that's off the table. And what kinda murder we talking about 1st degree: premed/malice types sure, if you trust the government that much, I don't. Because trials rely on so many people, it can take years to track down and correct a fatal fuck up. Because sometimes the police want to close a case for their own sakes, the sake of the victim or the DA's conviction ratio.
I suppose there are some cases where I'd be good with it but those are exceedingly rare. Like caught on HD cam, with confession and such, but if we had such fast track executions for certain crimes we'd never get a confession out of anyone but a death seeker. People plea out these days for light sentences, leniency and mercy. Which would make clearing these cases even slower than normal. Most people plea out on murder because they can dodge an execution with that, its cheaper all around. No appeals, no trial, need for most of the process.
What's wrong with this country is that Biff and Yoshi think they have all the answers.
Boo, Hiss.
Stupid 8th amendmant.
I believe we can set the ground for "you're dead, asshole" on guys like Dalmer, Lee Malvo, Ted Bundy. Serial killers need to die within a week of sentencing.
Now for premed stuff. I think it has to be up to the judge but not taken off the table.
IE: OJ, let's say he was found guilty , Ito should have been able to A) Set up his death date and B) Arranged for an appeal before said date.
Perhaps:
Verdict: Guilty
Sentence: Death By Lethal Injection 10/10/12
Appeal: TBD
I mean it keeps the option of investigating open, and also allows time for an appeal. However the death date needs to be set in STONE. Meaning you don't get us to change our mind, you're gone on this day without a doubt.
I think definite sentencing up front would save a lot of time.
To the people who believe the jail system is for rehibilitation. Tell that to the parents of Jaycee Dugard. Phillip Garrido was sentanced to 50 years in prison was released and later kidnapped and fathered two kids from then 11 year old Jaycee Dugard. Rehabilitaion works for some, but for others death is the only option. Some are not fit to be released back into society.
And to Buttcheeks: Jesus doesn't save you from evil. What he does is allow the Gentiles (non jewish) a way into heaven and allow for forgivness via prayer. Prior to Jesus jews would offer sacrifices aka livestock, finances, and crops. After Jesus died on the cross Christians no longer had to do such things.
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
But what if I want to sacrifice a goat for jesus?
Nah its not them, its the people we allow to be elected. I blame you the viewer!
Actually definite sentencing is only done after all the facts are known. Keeping the investigation running is expensive, defeats the purposes of the trial and verdict and prevents any appeal until the "investigation" is done. And keep in mind that some people don't recant their testimony until 10-20 years later, DNA testing was done, or redone with new tech and whatnot.
I wonder how many of the "innocent" people that have been spared were actually innocent. I mean there had to be something there to link them to the crime in the first place I would assume.
Our judicial system is predicated on the basis that we rather let guilty party free than to penalize innocent ones.
I don't agree with the "there is smoke, there is fire" justification.... I was on the jury for a murder, and while the accused might be a shady guy but he did not commit the murder. The prosecution/police basically found someone they don't like and put him on trial. I am amazed it even went that far into the judicial process considering the 2 witnesses in the case were anything but credible.
Fuck that. No proof of the deed, no proof indeed.
Boo, Hiss.
Or if you have enough money, proof of the deed isn't really enough to convict you.
See OJ
See Ted Kennedy
