Thread: Sonic The Hedgehog 4

Hopefully the new Starry Night Zone won't have you getting stuck in walls all the time. Megamix (the CD one, I didn't play the cartridge rom much) was really good until that area.

  3. That was a pretty shitty Casino level, yeah. Guh, Sonic 3. Just when I'd forgotten about those element shields.

Sonic Megamix is pretty impressive, actually, by far the most elaborate ROM hack of any console game ever. And the level design, back when I played it anyway, was much better than any other Sonic rom hack or fan game I had played.

Sonic always had speed levels and more methodical levels.

Some of the music in Megamix felt out of place, like the Moonwalker tracks. The Ristar tunes fit perfectly, though.

He wasn't changing direction in the part I was talking about. He would jump in one direction and let go of the d-pad. That is not the same as switching from one direction to another in mid jump.

But there are plenty of times when you run right and then want to jump left. Also in Sonic you don't actually want to hold right all the time, contrary to popular myth.

  9. We are giving this game more debate than it is worth. It's at best a clumsy amalgamation of 2D Sonic tropes and at worst a reminder that this is the best they could do with them.

Okay, I've been defending this game based on the demo. I finally got the full version today.

Holy FUCK. I was happy until I got to the Labyrinth Zone, and the game's ease gave me 20 lives, then I got down to 5, not necessarily because I suck but I kept dying from bad physics and huge bottomless pits.
