Thread: October 2009, 31 Days of Horror Round 2

  1. I recently had a horror movie marathon to try to catch up on horror movies I missed and Children of the Corn, Return of the Living Dead 2, I Spit on Your Grave, and Creepshow 2 are all weak.

    Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Poltergeist and Night of the Living Dead from 1990 are classic.

    I didn't like Henry or Cemetary Man but they're worth watching to see if they work for you.

    Also, if you haven't see The Fly I'd recommend it. That and Pet Sematary are my favorite horror movies.

  2. Cannibal Holocaust is one of those "watch it so that you can say you have" movies. The entire point was to be shocking in it's day and it's no longer relevant. The effects for the girl-on-a-pole scene are awesome, however.

    Watch Funny Games in English. It's literally shot for shot the same movie, and I like the two actors that play the kidnappers better in the English version.

    Frankenhooker is awesome, watch that.

    Child's Play is great, it has a nice almost 70's feel to it. CP2 is equally brilliant, except this time it's the pinnacle of everything that makes 80's horror movies great. If you haven't seen either you have to watch both.

    Sleepaway Camp is good.

    If you've seen REC, don't watch Quarantine. If you haven't seen REC, watch REC.

    Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama is great.

    From Beyond- If you haven't seen these two you really should. Watch them in this order so you can see Stuart Gordon's directing and the effects progress.

    I sort of of had a gut feeling that these would be weak, I just feel like I should see the for some reason.

    I'll give Frankenhooker a go, I'll probably have to internet that one though. I have seen Rec already (it's great!), and Quarantine is more just a curiosity, I'll probably end up skipping it if it doesn't add anything

    I watched Re-Animator in last year's horrorfest, so I'll give From Beyond a go early on.

    I second Wolf Creek. I'm not sure I've ever seen a bleaker movie.

    A couple of others, Grace and Eden Lake.
    Grace is getting some great reviews.

    Splinter was also pretty cool, you might wanna check that out

  8. Well I'm starting this tonight and the first two movies I have from Netflix are Ginger Snaps and Sleepaway Camp. I think I'll start with Sleepaway Camp.

    Trick R Treat release next week is really getting me excited, looks badass, and is getting amazing word of mouth

    Forgot to mention that Session 9 is pretty dope (and fucked up) if you haven't seen that yet


    Because of your bad influence I'm gonna tray and start one of these marathons today too. Hopefully I can catch up on some backlog

  10. For me it's really easy to get into a rut and just watch stuff I'm accustomed to, rewatch movies I like, listen to the same albums. So doing a marathon of watching nothing but new shit is pretty refreshing.
