The only time I go to the movies by myself is if I am free in the early afternoon and I've had a shitty last few days and need to completely zonk out by myself at a cheapo matinee for a few hours and disappear.
I've done that twice.

The thing is that now a huge amount of low budget movies of any genre are released straight to dvd with virtually no advertisement and survive on word of mouth. Despair watches loads of direct to DVD low budget action shit. I think its just a matter of wading through the shit to find the occasional gold nugget.
David Gordon Green is one of the better American directors of this decade with indie roots.
