Also I STILL say put Patty back at center. It's been like 12 games now and nobody on the second line is producing, and besides that, they aren't even having good shifts. I don't give a shit about faceoffs at this point, have someone take the draw and then let Patty take over center. The end.
I have no idea why Zajac shoots before Elias in the shootout ever, but I can't argue with the result tonight. Elias is the most clutch scorer in the league, period.
He's (Patty) not looking so hot on that second line. Still. I made a point of this the second they shifted him back to wing, and that line has been abysmal ever since. There is no second line center on this team, and Zajac, as well as the team has performed (shutouts, Zajac's 3 goals) since I got the jersey with his name on it, has been taking too long to make decisions with the puck and has been making horrible plays/turnovers with it too, so at the moment we have ZERO centers that I am comfortable with besides McAmmond in a fourth line role...unfortunately he's playing a 3rd line role? 2nd? He made a boneheaded play or two tonight as well. Nobody can win a draw anywhere, Trav is about 50%. Zubrus coming back won't help much either.
ANYWAY that was one of the best games I have ever seen, one of the best games I've ever seen Marty play, and a game that I was really, really sorry to see decided in a shootout. That said, we fucking won, hell yes, and in your face. I definitely jumped around a lot when Patty put that home.
NHL is so fucking backasswards. This game was completely enthralling, amazing, stirring, exciting, etc., way more so than the 7-4 Caps/TB game, in which the most interesting thing was Matt Bradley taking third man in on Ovie's fight.
