If you like quiet and lobsters, then Maine is the state for you. Portland is a very nice place, though I've only visited and not lived there.

Here in Mass, it pretty much rained all summer, and I'm certain to get my car stuck in snow at least once a year. It's almost a tradition. Nothing beats sleeping on cold, snowy nights though. I wouldn't want to live too far south because of that.

While the rest of the south is quite nice to live in, Florida has shit that you won't find anywhere else. Hell, just being less than 150mi from a beach no matter where you live in the state and no state income tax and no appreciable snow ever makes the state worth living in.
