Thread: Metal Gear Solid Spinoff Game Idea

  1. Metal Gear Solid Spinoff Game Idea

LordPerrin had a good idea for a Metal Gear Spinoff Game that i feel we should talk more about.

anyways, the idea was to make a game were you control an actual Metal Gear Mech with the Steel Batallion controller.

i think this would end up being a really awesome game. maybe we would even get really lucky and this would encourage more developers that are making mech games on xbox to add support for the controller.

imagine how awesome it would be if the controller ended up getting as much third party support as the GunCon2.

  2. As the originator of the idea in question, I second the motion.

And I just had a nifty idea how to fit it into continuity. The Ray is supposed to be designed to destroy the black-market MG's, yeah? So have Raiden hijack one and go on a MG hunt. That way he has a continuing purpose in the continuity, while staying faaaaaar away from the 'real' MG games.

  3. Well some of the mechs in Steel Battalion look quite a bit like the Metal Gears, so maybe your prayer is already answered. Now all you need to do is play MGS for 26 hours straight so you think everything is Metal Gear, then pop in Steel Battalion. You'll be so whacked out you'll think your blasting Metal Gear stuff left and right when your really just laying on the floor laughing with a huge controller heaped on your stomach and the TV screen displaying "Super Mario Bros.", it'll save you a few bucks in the end.
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

  4. it would be cool if this controller got some support though.

Hitmaker's main focus is xbox, so why not make a really awesome Virtual On sequal that has support for the controller, and online play.

we can get some really awesome shit if it's supported.

  5. Yeah it only makes sense to make the next Virtual On the Xbox. The Steel Battalion controller is the Twin Sticks with 40 other buttons, hell they could even make use of the "Wiper" button thats on the controller for Virtual On if the felt so inclined. I wonder how hard it is to program support for all the jazz on the monster any ways. Analog turning dials and indicater lights, I want to know who thought that up. And how the hell Capcom thought, "Sounds like a money making idea." But I am sure donzens upon bakers donzens of people will buy it just for the gimmick alone. Lets hope the game is not a just a heap of crap.

  6. I do like this idea. I had another idea for a MGS side story maybe? I dunno... i just always thought it would be cool if there was a way to bring your memory card with you to a Silent Scope cab and then play through a section of a MG game at the arcade on that setup. Deciding to play at home or at the arcade could offer story branches and whatnot. It would be nifty, but I doubt anyone would care.

    A is for action

  7. Maybe if Capcom is a succsess with the Steel Battalion controller, that other companys will take risks with gigantic accesories. Like finaly a huge Sniper Rifle for Silet Scope and such, oh wait Light Gun Games that use gun make kids kill other kids for no reason what so ever. Being crazy has nothing to do with it, its just the light gun.
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

  8. I never understood why Konami released huge-ass controllers for their Bemani games, but they never made a Sniper Rifle for Silent Scope.

As for the Metal Gear spinoff, sounds like a good idea, but I'm really hoping for another portable Metal Gear along the lines of Ghost Babel, but for the GBA.

that would be really awesome. i've always wanted a good MGS game for GBA.

While I'd much rather use the real Twinsticks, that isn't a bad idea. Wouldn't hurt Force sales, either.
