This argument has arisen before. The Noah's Ark thread is full of it.
If you want to talk past each other about this, do it there.

Ahh the old "Atheists have faith" argument. You're arguing the interpretation of a word rather than the issue. Also note that I said "superstitious" theory. Magic man in the sky is not a valid scientific theory, I'm sorry.
Religion is nothing more than a simple answer for life's complex questions that began when science knew very little. As more and more has been proven by the scientific method, more and more of religion is disproved. It also serves as a barrier to learning because rather than look for a true explanation of how the universe came to be, selfish humans would rather not take the chance that they might not get into the happy place in the clouds than to question the fables they've been mindlessly handing down for generations.
Be careful not to fall off the edge of the Earth.

FUCKING SHIT. NONE OF US ARE 14! LETS NOT HAVE THE ATHEIST HAVE/DON'T HAVE FAITH NERD BATTLE AGAIN!
NERD BATTLE!
"Question the world man... I know the meaning of everything right now... it's like I can touch god." - bbobb the ggreatt
I like my explanation better:
Dumb motherfuckers will do fucked up shit, and then hide behind/have people justify their actions through use of religion, lack thereof, political agenda, social structures, income, economies, and on and on and on...
Ultimately it's that fucked up individual's fault for doing fucked up shit.
Dude went wacko and shot a bunch of people. Again. Do we discuss whether this is good or bad? It is bad. Done.
Do we discuss who to blame? I say...the big telecom ISP juggernauts. It is clearly their fault this time. Rabble rabble rabble! Done.
Take Youtube off line and this will never happen again. Ever. That much is also clear. Rabble rabble.
Do some reading on current scientific theories for the start of the universe and the nature of matter, space, and energy and then get back to me. We know fuck-all about what matter even is. Why can something be here one instant and on the other side of the room clear past a high-energy barrier the next without even covering the ground in-between? For what we know right now, "magic man in the sky" would be about average on the "ridiculous" scale for possible theories.
Anybody who thinks the concept of "God" is so bonkers as to be dismissed outright is as ignorant of modern physics as the person who knows there must be a God.
You mean just like the atheists who take the simple answer of "no God" when asked that same complex question?Religion is nothing more than a simple answer for life's complex questions that began when science knew very little. Can you imagine the fun atheist shit-storm if science ever did prove the existence of God? Would probably be very much like the theistic shit-storm if science ever proved there was no God.As more and more has been proven by the scientific method, more and more of religion is disproved. It also serves as a barrier to learning because rather than look for a true explanation of how the universe came to be.
It is a religion.
