Thread: Off the Vine: TNL Wine Appreciation Thread

  1. #31
I have found that a good wine shop makes drinking wine a much more pleasant experience. There's a liquor store here that really specializes in wine, and they know their product. Give a meal and a price range, and they have a recommendation that almost never disappoints.

But seriously, does anyone know of some good go-to wines that are commonly available at grocery stores? I get a lot of questions at work, but can't be much help because my experience is so little.

  2. im going to assume theres a completely different selection of wines in ca than fl, but whenever im looking for something reasonable and delicious, i reach for anything by J Lohr. they have great grocery store wines, i love their cab and reisling, but pretty much all of their wines are good. cant go wrong with anything central coast ca in my book.

I will keep an eye out for it. I bet our wine prices are a bit higher for CA stuff than they are in your area, too.

  4. possible, but everything is more expensive in ca in general, so maybe not....

  6. Rutz used to be my money maker early in the year. I got 2 dollars for every bottle I sold, and I cleaned out Ft. Bend county of the shit. Out of curiosity, how much is it there in CA? Sonoma Cuvee and Russian River respectively.

  7. When I was a waiter I would love to have a glass of Columbia Crest Merlot after my shift was done. Lately I've been enjoying some home made wine my father in law makes, it's pretty good.

  8. I am currently enjoying a bottle of Manischewitz Concord. It's a good breakfast wine.
