Thread: Does anyone still watch TV shows when they air?

  1. #31
When I am bored I watch shit online or play games. When I'm watching TV, it's sports. If there are no good sports on and I'm bored and in front of the TV, I might watch whatever is on, but it's usually a rerun of a show I like or maybe yesterday's Daily/Colbert show.

    The internet is wonderful.

Are you really linking a commercial? It's not even that good?

  3. The TV shows he listed that he watches all suck too.

I watch sports when they air, because I cannot handle watching live stuff after it is over. But everything else I DVR and watch whenever.

  5. I like to have the TV on when playing slower-paced games on my PC. And I'll watch certain network shows if I happen to be home and not doing something better and actually remember to change the channel to something other than Law & Order reruns or Food Network.

  6. You for got about the DVR option or does that count as when they air?

Whenever I feel like watching TV, I'll watch Law and Order, which is almost guaranteed to be on one of the HD networks at a given time of day, or No Reservations.

The last show I cared to watch live was The Office, but I stopped watching the series about a year ago.

  8. the DVR counts for not watching it when it airs.

I've been hitting the SVU pretty hard on Netflix. Matt Saracen from Friday Night Lights was a murderous pedophile in the last episode I watched.

  10. I actually watch live TV pretty regularly. Usually this is the low investment come in anytime programming you find on the Discover/History/Travel channel. Because it doesn't require much of my attention I can write or surf the internet at the same time so I don't care if there are ads or not. The other time is turning on a random local/cable new channel when I wake up or watching The Daily/Colbert show when I'm going to bed.

But as far as regular series that I actually care about I don't watch any of them live. Take Thursday night for instance (which for whatever reason has like 75% of the shows I actually watch). This is the actual schedule of the shows I watch:

    7:00 - 7:30 - The Office
    7:00 - 8:00 - Bones
    8:00 - 8:30 - Community
    8:30 - 9:00 - 30 Rock
    9:00 - 10:00 - The Mentalist
    9:00 - 10:00 - It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Now, assuming I have nothing going on that night (rare) I watch them in this order and am able to avoid watching any commercials:

    7:00 - 7:30 - Conan
    7:30 - 7:50 - The Office
    7:50 - 8:35 - Bones
    8:35 - 8:55 - Community
    8:55 - 9:15 - 30 Rock
    9:15 - 10:00 - The Mentalist

I have managed to cram in what would have not too long ago taken me 4 and a half hours to watch into just 3 hours, and now I have an episode of Always Sunny in Philadelphia to watch whenever the mood strikes.
