Thread: Golden Sun DS

  1. Replying to him fuels him. We all know he doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about, the fun part is watching him struggle with realizing it.

  2. Man, I love the Internet. The real fun of this is watching you idiots answer everything with "he obviously doesn't know what he is talking about." Your simplification of the argument just shows how completely fucking stupid you are. If I wanted to play a 2D Mario, I would load up a better game like Mario 3 or something. The fact that they can basically rearrange a few blocks, add multiplayer and you'll buy it is laughable. I'm not saying that there can't be anymore 2D platforming games that feature Mario, but what they are delivering is dreck with a coat of pretty paint and a name people know. Obviously everyone here is happy to pay for that. I'm not. This isn't about disliking Golden Sun or Mario, I'll have the same feeling if Uncharted 3 is the same way. Constant sequels do nothing, but milk a deluisionary fanbase into spending more money for the same product. So keep trying. I expect someone to question my sexuality or personal life. Don't disappoint.

It's terribly laughable that designing a game so its not only fun in one player but multiplayer as well is considered "rearranging a few blocks." If that's the case, Mario 3 is just rearranging a few blocks from 1 (with a new coat of paint), and you seem to hold that derivative piece of crap in high regard.

If the level design is so hacked together and so easy to explain away, how come level editors in similar games (Little Big Planet) result in some of the worst, most ill-conceived nonsense, or just copy and paste layouts from old platformers? Really, that they put together a game that "works" is already a feat - downright amazing that they made a Mario game that doesn't need single and multiplayer in sectioned off ghettos to be "fun."

Although perhaps I'm coming at this from the wrong angle. If there's so much atrocity being committed by sequels, tell me what games you really think are original, inspired, and shake all the sameness you proclaim. Since you have enough issue with things that are out there and work for people, let's hear what your "solutions" are!

You know...the "correct" games to be playing.

  4. Hey spacecowboy, small aside... have you noticed that pretty much every fucking post you make includes a personal attack at the person you're replying to?

Now, I know we have our share of abrasive holier-than-thou personalities here at TNL, but most have a certain tact about it. Sprinkling your posts with retorts as direct as "you idiot" or "fucking moron" kinda breaches the wall between 'kind of a jackass' and 'total prick'.

  7. Why don't you stick a poop up your butt you meshuggah cracklick! Fuckdamn!

  8. Fucking shit, you idiot. I never liked Golden fucking Sun because it's so fucking stupid and the goddamned player character just spews garbage instead of talking. I don't need to be given a fucking option between "Yes" and "No" because I fucking know what I want. What a load of cock garbage, this fucking game is fucking uninteresting. Idiot.
    Donk

That's the thing, NSMB multiplayer isn't fun. In fact the game is less fun when more people play. Unless, of course, you wanna get drunk and goof around with some friends, but a) I don't play games that way and b) if I did, I wouldn't choose NSMB. And the first three Mario games are a good example of what I'm talking about. While all inherently the same concept, each are just as different. One of Nintendo's better decisions was not releasing the same Mario 2 that Japan got.

I personally like Little Big Planet, but you're right, it isn't perfect by a long shot. In fact, it suffers from a lot of the same problems, except that the game actually rewards playing with others since some puzzles can't be solved with just one person. And while I wasn't very good with the level designer, a lot of people made some really clever stages. Yes, 99% was garbage, but that doesn't make the concept invalid.

It's not about being original as you speak of it. It's about delivering something that isn't the same as the last thing whatever company has released. NSMB doesn't offer anything that I haven't seen done better in games made 20 years ago, or for that fact, different from the DS game (yes I played it). My opinion on Golden Sun is that Nintendo has made it a point to develop for the casual gamer and until I see something that proves otherwise, I'm not buying it. It looks exactly like the other Golden Sun games. I'm not saying reinvent the genre with every release, but ffs, don't just tack a 2 on the end or whatever and expect people to buy it (see Galaxy 2). I could give countless examples where game franchises have basically stalled until they changed things up. It doesn't always work, but I like trying something new instead of going through the same motions.

And if you get upset with people calling you names on the internet, then I don't know what to tell you except it's a world of difference between that and what I would consider an attack on a personal level.

    PS Fuck you.

  10. I don't want to go back and read all the stupidity in detail, so carding starts now. Keep my Gaming Discussion clean and pretty.
