Playstation, easy to mod?

Is it easy to mod a playstation? (1) I'm considering buying one mainly for imports so I was just wondering if I could mod one myself or would I need to hire someone?

  2. Older PSX, easy, fine. Li'l PSone... be veeeerrryyy careful. Much harder. If you can afford to get it done by someone else, do it.

  3. just buy a gameshark?

Okay, I'm goin to the mall in like 5 minutes, if someone can answer me before that, id greatly appreciate it!

What playstation do I have to get to play imports? like is it a trick before a certain year? and whats that about gs? how do I tell when they were made? if i get an old ps how easy will it be to mod? whats a good price for a dance matt? (would i find a better deal online or in a store?) how much do converters go (playstation to dc) Wow thats a lot of questions, thanks!

  5. if you find an older playstation with the slot in the back for the gameshark, you can then get a gameshark (they should be pretty cheap nowadays)...

gamesharks let you play imports... you can boot up with any normal US game, and then the gameshark will stop the disc, and you can swap in the import (although you need a little spring to keep the little button that tells the PSX if the door is opened or closed), and it loads up perfectly

i use the gameshark to play DDR on my playstation

now... if you don't want to have to swap (note: this is not a damaging swap trick where you pull the disc out while it's spinning... the disc is stopped), you can get a normal playstation (i'm unsure if you need a specific model # though), and mod it with one of the many mod chips that can be bought, which will let you play imports as if they were US games, without any swapping...

  6. Ask P Daddy Crapps (PaCrappa)...

Although I haven't seen him around...

    He can fix you up.

  7. Fix you up I can. It is not easy to mod any electronic gear unless you have lots of experience soldering. Easy for me yes, you.... I have no idea how much you've soldered anything like a circuit board.

Anyhoo if you need a mod, email me here: gigantor@attbi.com

And to answer an old question of Metal_Slug's, I do charge the customer to ship systems back these days because it just ain't cost effective to offer any kind free shipping. I'd have to raise the price to do that and that's ugly.

  8. cheap way is to get a psxchange disc from lik-sang for $16. then you can play imports and cdr's. assuming your asking about the psOne. otherwise the plugmod is the way to go for the older style. of if you wanna spend a bit (dunno how much Pa charges) get the mod. no swap bliss it is.
