Thread: Whatever Happened to Sonic

  1. How many lines of dialog does it take to turn a villain into an anti-hero?

  2. Didn't care much for Sonic 1 back in the day, but Sonic 2 was the jam.

That and Aladdin were two of my most-played Genesis games growing up.

Once they started throwing all that Knuckles shit in there I stopped caring. A couple of my friends had Sonic 3 and S&K, but I didn't like them enough to buy my own copy.

And we were all too busy laughing at the one rich kid whose dad bought him a Sega CD to bother playing the Sonic game on it.

    Sonic 2 4 Life!

If the villain is mute, this could be more difficult. Having a robot turned rogue on the cast could also be a hurdle.

  4. Step one: hire voice actor. Step two: Doctor Claw filter.

    It wouldn't have been hard.

    1. There was not one metal sonic. It could be argued that robosonic, mecha sonic and metal sonic were all separate robots (see sonic 2, S&K and sonic CD).

    2. Take any one of those robots and either give him a flaw or something he wants more than serving robotnik.

    3. ???

    4. Profit.

Really, all it would have taken was for Robotnik to mistreat metal sonic or him to gain awareness or something similar. Look at the start of Short Circuit 1. A military robot became a positive character in about 20 or 30 minutes with little dialog on the robots behalf. Just have the chaos emerald or lightening turn him into a hero/anti-hero.

    this is true.

Sonic is probably better when he talks little, too.

It really puts a damper on your Boba Fett / Metal Sonic slash fiction, and for that, I am sorry.

man, weren't you a winner. You didn't play a game because some kid you didn't like (for being rich, I guess) had the system it was on. Did you also avoid strawberry ice cream because annoying little girls like pink ice cream and they have cooties?

  10. No one in Sonic Adventure needed to talk.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

If only Lincoln had been around to put Sega's voice acting department to end!
